The Patio system
Patio is a sliding hardware system engineered by Roto of Germany, one of the world’s leading makers of window and door hardware and a long standing partner of Rotex Glass.
It is what makes the difficult cases possible: arc sliding, wall type sliding, and electronically controlled sliding systems. Every Patio hardware version works with Roto’s MVS magnetic locking and monitoring system, so a door connected to an alarm reports itself if it is left unlocked or forced.
The hardware is compatible with aluminium, metal uPVC and timber profiles, which means the choice of door does not force the choice of frame. Movements include slide only, tilt and slide, and sliding integrated with a tilt and turn sash.
Two ways it is built
Patio Inline
Linear sliding panels that run past each other in line. The room feels immediately brighter and the living space carries on into the garden, balcony or terrace. Anti jacking protection, multi chamber profile for thermal insulation, and the option of a level threshold and electronic controls for step free access.
Patio Fold
Fold and slide. Every panel folds against the next and slides to one or both ends, so the whole width of the opening comes free with almost nothing left standing in it. An integrated tilt and turn sash can still be worked on its own, so the run ventilates without being opened.
Where a patio door earns its keep
A wide balcony entrance. A doorway onto a terrace. A conference room that has to open into a hall for one afternoon a month. Anywhere the opening is wide and the view is the point.
Our engineers are trained on the Roto system and build to it. As with every other product here, the doors are measured, manufactured and installed by us, and carry a two-year warranty.
What to think about before you specify one
How wide the opening is, and where the panels go when it is open. An inline system slides the panels past each other, so part of the opening stays covered. A folding system stacks them against one or both ends and frees almost the whole width. If the point of the opening is that it disappears, that difference decides everything.
The threshold. A level threshold makes the room and the terrace one surface and is what makes the door usable by somebody in a wheelchair or pushing a pram. It has to be planned with the floor build up, which means deciding it now rather than later.
Ventilation when it is shut. A large glazed opening that only opens fully or not at all is awkward to live with. An integrated tilt and turn sash works independently of the sliding panels, so the run ventilates without being opened.

What is the difference between inline and folding?
