The people who make our components

Rotex builds the windows. The profile, the hardware, the handles and the glass come from European manufacturers we have bought from for years.

Four components, four reasons

Each of these is the part of a window that fails first when it is bought on price.

Why the profile maker matters

The profile decides the shape of every chamber inside the frame, and the chambers are what carry the insulation figures. A cheaper extrusion with fewer chambers looks identical from the outside and performs nothing like the same.

Why the hardware maker matters

The hardware is what moves. A tilt and turn mechanism is worked several thousand times over the life of a window, and hinges rated to carry a 120 kilogram sash are engineering rather than ironmongery.

Why the handle maker matters

The handle is the only part of a window anybody touches. It is also the part that gets substituted most often, because it is the cheapest thing to change and the easiest to make look similar.

Why the glass maker matters

A double glazed unit is a sealed object. If the seal fails, the cavity fogs and the unit is finished. Everything about how long that takes is decided by who made it.

What this means for a Rotex window

Two things, and both of them are practical rather than reputational.

The performance figures on this site are the figures these components produce. Noise reduction of up to 95 percent and up to 40 percent of the sun’s heat energy held back come from a multi chamber profile with a sealed double glazed unit and a gasket system that actually closes. Change the components and the numbers change with them.

And a window we fit today can be serviced in ten years. Hardware from a named maker carries part numbers, and a part number can be reordered. That is not true of a mechanism from an unnamed supplier, where a broken hinge means a new sash.

About the components

Are the windows imported?

No. The components come from Europe and the windows are cut, welded, cleaned, glazed and finished in our own factory in Nigeria, to the openings in your building. That is what makes made to measure possible at all.

Why does the component manufacturer matter?

Because these are the parts that fail first when a window is bought on price. The profile decides the chambers that carry the insulation, the hardware is what moves several thousand times, and a double glazed unit is a sealed object whose life depends on who sealed it.

Can parts be replaced later?

Yes. Hardware from a named manufacturer carries part numbers, and a part number can be reordered. A hinge or handle on a window fitted this year can still be replaced in ten, without replacing the sash.

Can I verify these suppliers?

Yes, and you are welcome to. All four publish their own technical data, so you are not asked to take our word for the performance figures on this site.
